Big box, little box, boutique, malls. Those are something that I don't know a lot about. Old Navy, American Eagle, and Gap are not as cool as I thought they were in middle and high school. The 90's, man those were the things. Yes, I dated myself. Now fast forward to 2015, I'm a photographer, I live in paradise, and I wear flip flops to meetings. So what do I do when Ashley and her friend Stephanie, who are both fashion bloggers call me? I being the adventurous type, jump right at the chance. Im your guy! Im your fashion photographer! Any of my friends will tell you that I would be last person they pictured doing fashion photography, so why did I do this?
To me the thing about photography is documentation. Its not always about what is there, its about everything else that is there. The vibe, the mood, the elements.
So Saturday Mornings are supposed to usually be a very quiet morning here in Key West. Its one of my favorite times as the island basically stands still. I shot over to the Gates Hotel at 9am. I'm having some coffee, running ideas through my head. I walk out of the lobby and my assumption was wrong. People were up early, sitting by the pool, soaking in the sun. Doing what we like to do best here in the Florida Keys. The morning air just gets you going for the day. I guess they got the memo. This actually boosted my mood. I sat and spoke to an Austrian couple while I rethought my plan and finished my coffee. They were interesting folk, and there was just a fun buzz in the air.
The property has great landscaping that meanders around the pool and rooms. There is a food cart that's killer. So I was basically set! Time to have some fun!
Ashley and Stephanie were super fun. They actually taught me a few things. Gave me a look into something that I definitely don't know. Women's fashion. The details that they wanted me to focus on can play true into any situation. That's what I like about photography. Its one element that creates the photo. The two of them helped me through what they needed out of us working together. I put my style into it, and what you see is what I call fun! We got some killer results, and we laughed a lot. It was a learning experience for me, and one that was enjoyable. I cant wait to read and see what they do with them.
