Spring time in The Florida Keys and Key West presents some of my favorite reasons for living in the Keys. Flowers and Trees come into full bloom, the water colors change with the Caribbean Tide, and as they say "Love is in the Air." It gives me as a Key West Photographer, an amazing canvas that I use to show emotion and love.
Alex and Matt are an awesome, fun loving, and playful couple. They share the same love of fitness and dogs with each other. When Alex asked me to do her photography I jumped at the chance. She asked about bringing the fur kiddos, and I was immediately excited. We talked over locations and chose Fort Zachary Taylor in Key West, Florida as our location.
Fort Zachary Taylor gives you many options as a photographer. We started out around the wilderness trail with the puppies to loosen everyone up. No matter how trained a dog is, you always have to take the time to warm up to them first. We all know that dogs sense energy, so letting them know that they were important, helped them to listen to commands better, and become rockstars.
Using landscapes in my photography is what sets me apart from other wedding photographers. I know Key West, and it is something that influences ALL of my photography. When you take a landscape, and make it unique, then it can become any place in the world. Alex and Matt were the kind of couple that you could just have take a walk, and magic began to happen. They were in their element, and it showed. You saw the love, the sense of family.
After some different locations with the puppies it was time to concentrate on the real reason we were there. Alex and Matt. Using different areas of the park allowed me to get different white balances, different lighting, and to showcase the love that these two had for one another. We were able to escape and let the two of them act naturally. They definitely showed their passion for one another, and their fun personalities. They wanted to stray away from the traditional posed photos, and show off who they both really were.
We finished the session with a nice stroll down the beach. I think it is important to show emotion in all of my imagery. Engagement sessions tend to create that spark, the same way it did on the day the couple met. You remember why that person is the one that you want to spend the rest of your life with. Its that factor that helps produce lasting imagery, that is representative in each couples engagement photography session.
