Using Natural Sun and Light

As a new photographer I have struggles.  You concentrate so hard on having focused shots, that sometimes you dont properly expose for the shot.  Its not always the best time to take the shot.  So living in an island paradise, the mornings are always amazing.  Warm sun rays, golden light, and as natural as it gets.

I called my friend Anna a few days ago, and planned a little morning fun session.  Anna is a local, who enjoys the waters and environment that we live in.  She has a very natural look, and the morning light highlights the soft character you see.  We blended the natural light and her look and got some great results.

The first shot was a more lens flare idea.   The sun was directly on her front right side, so I used the sun to highlight her flowing hair.  I am a big fan of naturally highlighted light and shadows.  By having her use her hair as a shield, we were able to get a warming glow on her face, and soften the light.  Notice how the lines of light really edge out her figure.

Sticking with my own version of Boho, Bohemian beach fashion, we used the solid white of her top and brick for contrast.  Using natural reflectors of the brick, I was able to create a reddish warm hue.  My end result being natural light, natural reflectors, and a stunning image of one of the nicest people I know to live on the island.  Great way to spend the morning, and look forward to more coming from our collaborative soon.
