Olena and Travis are two Key West locals. Their story is one that happens quite a bit around here. You meet someone you work with. You form a relationship, and then a family. We see it happen and its so awesome that it happened to one of my friends. Travis and I met when I first moved to Key West, close to 5 years ago. We have stayed friends and kept in touch, so when he asked me to shoot his wedding at Smathers Beach, I made sure I was available.
Olena and her girls got ready at a private home on the Riviera Canal, which provided a unique backdrop for her bridal portraits. Soft contrast, warm rays of light, and beautiful make up came together to produce memorable results. A lot of time, thought, and effort was put into the florals as you could see them throughout the house, which matched her overall theme.
Olena worked on many DIY items that you saw throughout their ceremony. Keeping with Key West tradition, the groomsmen and groom set up the ceremony just 20 mins before the start time. Everyone pitched in, and it was good to see the smiles on everyone's faces. The reception took place at Kelly's Caribbean Grill. It was very fitting as this is where the two of them met and still work. Light h'orderves were passed around as the night began. No cake was smeared on this wedding. A break in a recent trend at receptions. Wait till our next post for that one!
Foto By Freas wishes Travis and Olena many years ahead of happiness. They also have a little one on the way!
It is always a pleasure to work with all of my local vendors.
